Inspiring stories among us

meredithMeredith Reilly, from Bloomfield NJ, working mother of two, Molly, 5 and Jack, 3, wife of Casey Reilly, member of Real Body Bootcamp, trains for a ½ marathon.

Meredith works full time as the Director of Sales Operations for Village Farms, North America’s largest grower and marketer of hydroponic produce.
She enrolled in Real Body Bootcamp where she attends classes regularly and  runs in between sessions.
I recently discovered that Meredith decided to take it to another level by competing in a ½ marathon in September and I had to ask her to share with us what drives her.
Meredith a former field hockey, basketball and softball player, became a mom like many of us. She needed to find a balance in her life to deal with her hectic schedule. We wanted to find out her formula, here is what she said:

Why did you decide to take this on?

To increase my energy level and to help me cope with my busy schedule. To get back into pre-pregnancy shape.

What motivates you?

Knowing I have to complete a 13.1 mile half marathon in 4 months.

What are your ultimate fitness goals?

To be able to compete and successfully complete the East Hampton Half Marathon on September 26, 2009. Hopefully this will be the first of many.

What are your hurdles?
Finding the time to work out. Being a wife, mom and working full time my days and nights are completely occupied so having the opportunity to attend the Real Body Bootcamp before my day begins is the ideal time for me to fit exercise into the routine.
How are you training?

I train with Real Body Bootcamp three days a week on Monday’s, Wednesday’s and Friday’s, where I get a full body workout. When not working out with my fellow Bootcampers I run three days a week.
Do you have a diet plan?

My diet is high in proteins, complex carbohydrates (brown rice), fruits and vegetables. As a chocolate lover I am trying to limit refined carbohydrates, not so easy at 3:00 pm.

What can you tell other people who are intimidated about organized races?
This is my first organized race but hopefully the first of many. Up until the race in September I just need to take the training day by day and gradually increase the distance.

What do you want to achieve from this? To lead a healthier lifestyle and feel a real sense of accomplishment. Both of which Real Body Bootcamp helped me to achieve.
