LET’S FIGHT CELLULITE!
So what’s the deal with this evil affliction that most women have? Why do we constantly battle with orange peel-like skin on our butts and thighs? And why don’t men have it? And what can we do about it? Will exercise get rid of it? Good questions! I’m glad you are asking because so am I.
As research and most of the medical field will tell us, we can’t do much about cellulite. It is plain old fat, but for women it appears differently. Everyone has connective tissue that separates fat cells into compartments. Men have horizontal patterns and women have a honeycomb pattern, which gives the fat a greater chance to protrude or bulge, hence that unsightly cottage-cheese effect. Reducing weight is definitely a step in the right direction but it’s not so much about weight and more about body fat percentage. And fat reduction helps with cellulite reduction but may not get rid of it completely.
However, good news, bootcampers: Studies have shown that women who have been doing aerobic activity along with reduction in calorie intake, saw a significant reduction in size of fat cells in the abs and butt area. Experts recommend daily cardio exercise combined with two or three strength-training sessions a week and a healthy diet. A quick fix sounds great when you see models posing for a special cellulite-reduction cream or pill. However, beware of these—they will cost you a lot of money and they won’t do much at all. There is no overnight cure. You can’t get below that connective tissue with a cream. And genetics also play a role in determining who has cellulite and who doesn’t.
So here’s what you are going to do to REDUCE the appearance of cellulite: cardio and strength training exercises, several times a week. This will help you reduce fat and build lean muscle and that will reduce the fat underneath the connective tissue. Real Body Bootcamp can help you with cellulite reduction! Consistency is key.
