Local Artisan Promotes Beauty with Unique Jewelry
As we bootcampers work on improving our health through fitness another significant piece that is important is our image. A wonderful way to accentuate our image and beauty is through jewelry. A local artisan, Kathe knitch is contributing to this by donating one of her necklaces to our lucky winner of the Biggest Loser contest.
Kathe creates all things unique. She cleverly handcrafts vintage items such as shadow boxes, banners, masks, dolls, fans and jewelry.
Words cannot describe the amount of talent she possesses. In fact when viewing her work you’ll notice every piece has such intricate detail you’ll wonder how she created it.
Kathe’s work like poetry can describe a mood, set a tone, evoke a feeling. She plays with time and space through mixed mediums. She loves all things vintage and antique. She frequents estate sales, antique shops and flea-markets and waits till something “speaks” to her. The combination and juxtaposition of objects is what she finds most interesting. They all tell a story on their own.
Her works have been displayed at the Colonnades Gallery in Montclair and she created masks for the Montclair Art Museums Black and White Ball. The masks were sold through the museum’s shop as well as several other boutiques in town.
Kathe was gracious enough to donate one of her jewelry pieces to our Biggest Loser winner.
