IT’S MY (HOLIDAY) PARTY AND I’LL (fill in the blank) IF I WANT TO…

rbar40Yes, the holiday season is in full swing my fellow fitness friends! And we all know what that means: TOO MANY CALORIES IN OUR FACES!!! Too many bad choices upon us! What are we to do? Look at those festive foods—the cookies, the donuts, the drinks, the fried food, the heavy appetizers, the endless chocolate…need I say more?
Well, here are few tips to keep you motivated and hopefully keep those pounds from being packed on during this fun fabulous and FATTENING season:

1. Give yourself a goal at every party/meal/holiday gathering. For example: I’ll eat a little bit of each item on the dinner table but never go for seconds. Or, I’ll have one caloric drink instead of eating dessert. Or, I’ll have a bite of everything but not eat a full serving. Don’t deny yourself your favorite holiday pleasures. But just take a taste and think of your waist!!
2. When you arrive at party or gathering, grab a glass of water or a non-alcoholic drink and wait about 30 minutes before pursuing the food. That will give you some time to survey the food situation and assess what will be worth having and what will blow the diet without being satisfying. Think and drink before you leap to eat!
3. Skip the fatty appetizers and if you are really hungry, just go for the veggies, fruit, a small handful of nuts or some salsa.
4. Chew gum. It may not look great but a little piece will help keep you from popping some unwanted calories into that mouth!
5. Keep the focus of the spirit of the season. Remember why you are gathering with everyone. Enjoy and cherish the company you are in and take note of the moment. Instead of making the holiday about the food, make it about the experience.

The holidays can be wonderful but we also don’t want to beat ourselves up afterwards. So think about your goals throughout your holiday season. Keep in mind that you will see food the next day. You don’t need to blow your diet on what you ate at the holiday party! But do enjoy yourself and think of where you are in the moment. So many of you have reached major goals with Real Body Bootcamp and we’re so proud of you! Keep it up! And if you have trouble during the holidays, we’re always here for you.
