1. Small portions; be smart, try and taste a little bit of everything. Always ask for the small plate especially when there is a table full of desserts. Try small slices and do eat the healthy snacks such as fresh and dried fruits. It’s good to try some of the veggies on the salad bar. Healthy choices will help you balanced out the sugar intake.

2. Be Active; even thought it could be the busiest time of the year. You need to keep up with your exercise routine. If possible add an extra work out day or go for a walk to burn the extra intake of calories. The work out will rejuvenate you and help you feel lighter and full of energy.

3. Never go hungry to a party; this is the biggest mistake that people make. They don’t eat all day long to save themselves for that holiday party. The day that you know you will be indulging, you need to be extra attentive to your eating choices. It’s easier to say “no” to that second portion with a healthy satisfied appetite.

4. Be more social; yes! enjoy the company of the people rather that just the food they brought to the party. This is the season to share special moments together, to tell stories and joke around. It is not just to stuff our bellies with cookies and cocktails.

5. Be committed to your plan; The worst thing you can do when it comes to weight management during the holidays; is to give into all-or-nothing thinking and keep making bad choices once you’ve made a mistake or two. Never throw in the towel just because of a few slip-ups!
